* Katie Shaw

Katie Shaw Katie graduated from University of Durham with an MSci in 2006. As part of her degree she spent her final year on an industrial placement at Pfizer, at their large European headquarters in Sandwich, Kent. During her placement she learnt a lot about how computational chemistry is used to aid medicine design, and completed a project on method testing. The aim was to compare different approaches to predicting how well a new molecule may behave as a potential drug.

Katie then moved to the University of Bristol to take up a PhD with Professor Adrian Mulholland and and uses combined quantum mechanical and molecular mechanical methods to study enzyme systems.
