Congratulations to the team from Cheltenham College who won the district competition that was held in the Teaching Laboratories.

the winners

The competition involved two practical tasks and a short written quiz. The first task involved producing chemical change that takes place in exactly one minute (iodine clock experiment). The second task was the determination of the sugar content in soft drinks. Whilst the judges sorted out the scores from the tasks Tim Harrison entertained all ten teams and their teachers with a number of chemical demonstrations.

The competition took place in the evening to allow as many schools to participate as possible. The event was a part of the Chemistry Week celebrations.

In second place came Red Maids School with Rednock School in third. The winning team will now go forward to the national finals in London in the Spring.
