The whole school enjoyed a pre-Christmas treat (and a break from rehearsals for the school play) with an exciting chemistry demonstration assembly for 150 pupils involving some very cold things (like liquid nitrogen and dry ice) and some very hot things, like exploding balloons! The assembly was presented by Alison Rivett, who then led 2 workshops for the 48 Y5 and 6 pupils, along with postgraduate SEAs Bozena Lukasiak, Martha Tomlinson and Junwei Wang, assisted by the St Joseph's school 'Science' governor. All the Year 5 & 6 pupils enjoyed the practical activities as well as improving their measuring, team work and problem solving skills.
