Beacon Researchers in Schools Scheme - WALES
The Beacon Researchers in Schools scheme places researchers from Cardiff University or the University of Glamorgan into secondary schools or FE colleges in Wales for 14-24 hours to work with teachers and students. The scheme is very flexible, allowing researchers and teachers to decide how and when to use the time, so it can be used for practicals, visits, talks, after school clubs or events like those held in National Science Week. It is free and we reimburse researcher expenses for travel and materials up to £100. We also train and provide CRB checks for all researchers. There are currently a number of researchers available that are looking for schools to work with before the end of March 2010. These include many biologists, researchers looking into environmental topics such as sustainability, and a couple with IT backgrounds. I also have a few Welsh-speakers available.
