Bristol ChemLabS Staff Receive Faculty of Science Teaching Awards - 14/12/07

Senior Technician Steve Croker won The Faculty of Science Teaching Support Award with the Teaching and Learning Prize going to University Teacher Fellow Russell Cox. These awards will be presented at a formal ceremony in early January.

Visit from Secretary of State John Denham MP - 14/12/07

The Rt Hon John Denham MP, Secretary of State for the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS), visited Bristol ChemLabS on 23 November. He was taken on a tour of the new laboratories by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bristol, Professor Eric Thomas, and Bristol ChemLabS Chief Executive Professor Nick Norman.

Grand Opening of the Bristol CETLs - 14/12/07

The Chief Executive of HEFCE, Professor David Eastwood (pictured below), performed the official opening of the University of Bristol's CETLs together with the University of Bristol's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eric Thomas, on 21 November.

Guests included representatives from University Council (Chair and Vice Chair), local government (the Lord Mayor), HEFCE, the Higher Education Academy, learned societies, pharmaceutical companies, local schools and University alumni who also enjoyed a buffet lunch and tours of the Bristol ChemLabS and AIMS facilities, including the joint Mobile Teaching Unit.

The day was a great success and enjoyed by all.
