Primary Science Day at St Mary's Primary School, Thornbury - 20/12/05

On the 1st December, Tim Harrison gave an assembly to 220 pupils on some of the gases in the air complete with liquid nitrogen, carbon dioxide fire extinguishers, exploding hydrogen balloons and foaming oxygen production.

Postgraduate students Rak Mistry and Alex Griffin then spent the morning session with pupils from year 5, and an afternoon with those from year 6, undertaking a circus of experiments. These included a rates of reaction experiment, making slime, paper chromatography and making spaghetti structures.

A great time was had by all involved.
